Come join our team as a Resource Team Assistant (Disabilities Assistant) and help Educational Opportunities for Children and Families (EOCF) realize a common mission by providing support services to content area specialists on the Resource Team, as well as supporting the implementation of developmentally appropriate early childhood education practices for children enrolled in EOCF programs. This benefited position is budgeted for 1832 hours/229 days per year with a starting salary of $13.51.

AA in field related to Human Development or Early Childhood Education -OR- High School diploma plus four years experience in addition to the experience requirement below.


Two years experience working with groups of children 0 to 5 years of age in an early childhood setting. Developmental screening experience. Two years data base/entry experience. Bi-lingual highly desired.

Knowledge of:

  1. Principles of normal and abnormal child development.
  2. Developmentally appropriate practices and child guidance techniques for 0 to 5 year old children.
  3. Computer word processing, data entry, scanning and file maintenance, and spreadsheet programs. 
  4. Safety issues for children and adults.
  5. Office practices, procedures and equipment.
  6. Child immunization schedule and the ability to identify child immunization compliance.

Ability to:

  1. Communicate effectively with children and families from varying cultural, educational, socio-economic background.
  2. Work cooperatively with staff members and clients from diverse cultural, socio-economic and educational backgrounds and provide services as needed or requested to ensure program requirements are met 
  3. Maintain confidentiality of records and information.
  4. Use the team approach to resolving problems or conflicts.
  5. Demonstrate professional and effective written and verbal communication skills; receive information and feedback in an understanding manner; use good judgment.
  6. Work independently and demonstrate flexibility to changes in work schedules and assignments.
  7. Attend appropriate staff meetings and out-of-town training sessions as assigned and provide training to staff at EOCF sites as needed. 

Key Performance Area: Disabilities Assistance

Process necessary paper work for screening and assessments.

Create and communicate the hearing screening schedule for all programs at start-up and provide support to full day and home based programs as needed and provide opportunity for feedback from education staff on the schedule.

Drive to EOCF centers to conduct hearing screens and provide results of screens to staff and families, as well as documenting results in the Child Plus.

Maintain the "check in and out" system for the AUDX machines and provide feedback to the Supervisor of Disabilities Services as needed.

Develop an annual schedule of AUDX calibration to ensure that AUDX are available at start-up.

Practice established principles of safety in environments for young children.

Assist staff with children with special needs who require a one-on-one shadow as directed by the Supervisor of Disabilities Services and/or the Associate Director of Child and Family Services.

Assist with screening, observing and recording children's behavior.

Provide support to the Supervisor of Disabilities Services in preparing for trainings and start-up tasks.

Assist Resource Team in providing other developmental screens when needed

Key Performance Area: Data Systems Assistance (Resource Team Assistant DATA

Maintain the initial entry of Resource Team referrals into the Child Plus Data system, School District Referral Log, Focuses of Concern (FOC) system, Behavior Incident Reports data entry, CACFP

Enrollment forms entry, review of data entered for program screenings and requirements, and any other data entry requested or needed for the Resource Team.

Enter screening data as required Health screenings are completed.

Monitor data entries for accuracy and follow-up.

Update followup in the Child Plus and Elms systems.

Update information related to Resource Team referrals as needed or directed and provide up to date reports to the Supervisor of Disability Services as requested.

Work as part of a team to develop written procedures and guidance for data entry done by Child and Family Services staff. 

Analyze data system needs and provide recommendations for improving capabilities of the system.

Process necessary paper work for hearing and speech screenings, school district assessments requests, behavior incident reports, Resource Team referrals, MDT meeting requests and notifications, CACFP enrollment form processing, and entering or maintaining applicable Resource Team data into the Child Plus system, ELMS, and Resource Team drives as needed or directed.

Schedule, organize, and document Multi-Disciplinary Team Meetings with staff, teachers, community members and/or parents and ensure appropriate information related to the MDT Meeting is in the Child Plus Data System and ELMS.

Schedule and organize P-K Transition MDT meetings with staff, teachers, community members and/or parents as needed or requested for children with referrals and care plans.

Organize and maintain Release of Confidential Information requests related to Focuses of Concerns and Resource Team referrals.

Process requests for child records from outside agencies and families and maintain documentation of requests.

Practice established principles of safety in environments for young children when providing screenings or one-on-one support assignments

Provide support to teachers in carrying out  strategies to incorporate disability support services in the classroom per IEP, and as needed by the program.

Provide support to teachers by encouraging children to develop inner-control by providing positive child guidance techniques when in the classroom environment.

Assist with screenings provided by the Disabilities component, observing and recording children's behavior as needed or requested.

Provide annual, ongoing training to teachers on conducting hearing and vision screens.

Assist Resource Team content area specialists in organizing and presenting workshops.

Drive to EOCF centers or to families homes when needed to conduct hearing and language screens, provide on-site technical assistance, and respond to emergencies.

Maintain organized and accessible record keeping and filing system.

Serve as advocate for EOCF and its families in the community.

Maintain confidentiality of program, staff and client information.
