Come join our team as a Cook and support Educational Opportunities for Children and Families realize a common mission by performing a variety of food preparation and planning activities. Responsibilities include monitoring dietary requirements and preparing batch meals for children according to CACFP, state, federal and EOCF guidelines and regulations. In addition this position is responsible for kitchen operation, ordering of food and non-food supplies, and light janitorial duties. This position is scheduled to work between 20-30 hours per week with a starting range of $12.27-12.88 per hour.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Experience

One year experience or education in food preparation/handling, batch  cooking, and/or catering. Vocational or technical training in institutional cooking or food preparation may be substituted for six months work experience. Preference will be given to past or current EOCF- served parents with one year documented volunteer service in an agency program.

Knowledge of
1. Principles of nutrition as it relates to children's healthy development.
2. Principles of safe and healthy food storage, preparation, and service.
3. Basic principles of grammar, written and oral communication, and mathematics.

Ability to
1. Read, follow, understand and execute recipes and follow written and verbal directions
precisely.
2. Use basic mathematics skills accurately to measure, portion, predict and calculate food
quantities.
3. Multi task and prioritize responsibilities on a daily and ongoing basis.
4. Understand and follow written and verbal directions in English.
5. Work cooperatively with other staff members and with clients from diverse cultural,
socio-economic and educational backgrounds.
6. Work independently in a logical, efficient, and productive manner.
7. Use good judgment and problem solving skills while taking a team approach to resolving
problems or conflicts.
8. Demonstrate professional and effective verbal communication skills; receive information
and feedback in an understanding manner.
9. Attend appropriate staff meetings and out of town training sessions as assigned.
