Strengthening children & families through early learning, child development, and community partnerships.

Come join our team as a Teacher & Family Advocate by providing, coordinating, implementing and monitoring comprehensive early childhood education and family support services for children and families served in Head Start and/or EHS in accordance with performance standards, best practices, and EOCF's work plan, policies and procedures. Teacher & Family Advocate positions are benefited, budgeted for 1440-1596 hours per year, and scheduled to work 36-40 hours per week.

Training plan may be considered based on qualifications.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education/Experience: Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Development, ECE or related field; or; Bachelors degree in Human Development, Human Services, Sociology, Social Work, or related field. One year paid experience providing early childhood education and/or case management services for children 3 - 5 years old and their families.

Preferred Education/ExperienceBachelor's degree in Early Childhood Development, ECE, Human Development/Human Services, or related field that provides comprehensive knowledge of both early childhood education and family services. Education must include 16 semester credits in ECE. One year paid experience providing early childhood education and/or case management services for children 3 - 5 years old and their families.

* Bi-lingual highly desired. 

Knowledge of

Principals of child development and early childhood curriculum planning.

Current best practices in early childhood development and education; developmentally appropriate best practices in early childhood programs.

Available services and resources for children and families in the community.

Principles of case management, advocacy and family dynamics.

Principles of human development and family services.

Basic rules and principles of grammar, written and verbal communication, and mathematics

Ability to

Observe and assess children and set individualized goals.

Prepare the classroom environment to meet the educational needs of each child.

Track each child's progress and incorporate the information into the curriculum.

Establish helping relationships with families and family members from varying cultural, socio-economic and educational backgrounds.     

Work cooperatively with staff members and clients from diverse cultural, socio-economic and educational backgrounds.     

Maintain confidentiality of records and information.

Use the team approach to resolving problems or conflicts.

Demonstrate professional and effective written and verbal communication skills; receive information and feedback in an understanding manner; use good judgment.

Attend appropriate staff meetings and out-of-town training sessions as assigned.

Certifications and Other Requirements

Valid First Aid and CPR cards

Valid Food Handler's card.

Valid Oregon or Washington State driver's license, and proof of automobile insurance as mandated by Washington State law.

Ready access to a personal, legally licensed motor vehicle.

Submit to finger printing and criminal history background check.

Pass a pre-employment health screening indicating freedom from communicable diseases, and an annual health checkup indicating freedom from communicable diseases.

Commit to EOCF's drug-free work place policy.
