Come join our team in Nutrition Services and help us realize a common mission in a variety of capacities by preparing, serving and/or delivering meals to our Early Head Start, Head Start and ECEAP classroom sites. You might find yourself assisting in performing a variety of food service related tasks such as hot and cold food preparation, general cleaning, and/or planning activities. Other responsibilities may include monitoring dietary requirements, and preparing batch meals for 20-160 according to CACFP, state, federal, and EOCF guidelines and regulations. You may participate in kitchen operations including inventory, maintenance and ordering of food and non-food supplies. Substitute positions are classified as on-call. Part-time regular assignments are scheduled to work approximately 20-30 hours per week August through June.

COOK'S ASSISTANT/DRIVER:

Education
: High school diploma or equivalent 

Experience: A minimum of one year experience delivery driving. Familiarity of the greater Vancouver WA area and/or demonstrated experience in learning geographical areas required. Six months experience or education in food preparation/handling, batch cooking, and/or catering experience desired Preference will be given to past or current EOCF- served parents with one year documented volunteer service in an agency program.

NUTRITION SERVICES AIDE - substitute:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent 

Experience: A minimum of six months experience or education in food preparation/handling, batch cooking and/or catering. Vocational or technical training in an institutional cooking or food preparation may be substituted for work experience. Preference will be given to past or current EOCF-served parents with one year of documented volunteer service in an agency program.

*Bi-lingual highly desired.

Certification and Other Requirements

  1. Valid Washington State Food Handler's card.
  2. Valid First Aid and CPR cards.
  3. Valid Oregon or Washington State driver's license, a record of no DWI convictions or other violations which have resulted in the suspension or revocation of a driver's license in the preceding three years, and proof of automobile insurance as mandated by Washington State law.
  4. Ready access to a personal, legally licensed motor vehicle.
  5. Acceptable Driving Abstract per Agency Policy A-709.
  6. Submit to finger printing and criminal history background check.
  7. Pass a pre-employment health screening indicating freedom from communicable diseases, and an annual health checkup indicating freedom from communicable diseases.
  8. Commit to EOCF's drug-free work place policy.

Knowledge of

Safe driving practices

Vancouver WA geographical area

Principles of nutrition as it relates to children's healthy development.

Principles of safe and healthy food storage, preparation, and service.

Basic principles of grammar, written and oral communication, and mathematics.

Ability to

Read, follow, understand and execute recipes and follow written and verbal directions precisely.

Use basic mathematics skills accurately to measure, portion, predict and calculate food quantities.

Multi task and prioritize responsibilities on a daily and ongoing basis.

Understand and follow written and verbal directions in English.

Work cooperatively with other staff members and with clients from diverse cultural, socio-economic and educational backgrounds.

Work independently in a logical, efficient, and productive manner.

Use good judgment and problem solving skills while taking a team approach to resolving problems or conflicts.

Demonstrate professional and effective verbal communication skills; receive information and feedback in an understanding manner.

Attend appropriate staff meetings and out of town training sessions as assigned.
